Artist, Venetian, 1697 - 1768

The image shows a canal or waterway with boats docked along the edge. A detailed boat with people is closest to the viewer. Behind the boats are large multi-story buildings lining the water's edge. A tall steeple rises above the buildings on the horizon. The sky is cloudless with textured engravings. The monochrome composition consists of etched lines in black and gray. Trees are interspersed with the buildings.
