The image shows a man with both arms raised at shoulder height, facing slightly off to his right. He appears to be interacting with a skeletal figure. The man has a full face with a mustache and short beard, and his hair is medium length. He is wearing elaborate clothing typical of a nobleman including a large cloak with detailed trimming. An hourglass sits on a table beside him. The skeletal figure beside him is partially draped in fabric. The background features mountains and clouds and the composition is framed with the title "Der Edelmann" at the top.
