Robert Frank

Artist, American, born Switzerland, 1924 - 2019

This contact sheet shows five strips of black and white film arranged on a black background. The first of five frames on the top strip shows people on a bus taken from outside the bus. The next two frames show young men wearing uniforms outside a bus, and then two frames of men holding musical instruments. The second strip shows a Black woman looking to our right in front of a group of white police officers; then three frames showing groups of people before another shot of people on the bus. This strip is outlined in red and then the second and fifth frames are also boxed in red. The third strip is made of three frames, two of which show to people at a fruit stand. The third frame is of a man and woman walking toward us on a city street. The fourth strip also has five frames. The first four show crowds of people, but the fourth is noticeably darker. The fifth would be hard to make out if not for the photograph of the police officers above. In the four frames of the final strip are two shots of people gathered around an American flag, a group of children, and a group on a city street.
