Vanitas

British 17th Century

Associated Names
This print features a human skull at the center, placed on sheets of paper with a book or journal to the right and large shell-like shape to the left. A crumpled piece of paper with "OMNIA VANITAS" written on it rests in front of the shell, and there is a candlestick next to it with smoke curling upward. Next to the smoke are what appear to be two transparent bubbles floating above the skull. Drapes are visible in the background, and there are flowers on the right.
