Artist, American, 1882 - 1971

The image shows a person standing at the threshold of a door. The person is positioned with their body facing forward but slightly hunched as they raise their arms to cover their face. Their head is bent downwards, obscuring their facial features and hair from view. The person appears to be wearing a long dress that falls to their ankles and is barefoot. The setting suggests the inside of a building with the person standing in a doorway. The interior appears dark, contrasting with a lighter space outside, where there is a rectangular structure resembling a window on the left. The image is in a monochromatic palette.
