The image shows a view from water level of a grand, arched entrance in a stone structure. There is no visible horizon, with a focus on the archway and its reflection in the water. The brushstrokes are scratchy and detailed, indicating an etching technique, capturing the texture of the stonework and rippling water. The color palette is monochrome, with shades of sepia providing a historical feel. Closest to us, the reflection of the arch and a gondola dominate the bottom half. Beyond this, a lone gondolier steers the boat, adding movement to the still scene of the archway and surrounding structure bathed in light and shadow.
