The image shows an outdoor scene with three soldiers and a fourth reclining figure. The soldiers are equipped with armor and staffs, and two of them are talking to each other, faces obscured, while the third looks directly at the viewer. Another figure lies on the ground in casual clothing, observing the soldier. The setting is open land with distant hills and sketch lines hint at trees. It is signed "Tiepolo" on the left side. It is monochromatic, with dark lines on brown paper.
