Artist, Dutch, 1606 - 1669

The image depicts a nude woman sitting with her full body visible, partially submerged in water or positioned on a ledge. Her posture is slightly twisted to the side as she faces the viewer, with her left knee bent and her arms resting on a cloth-covered surface. She has soft facial features with loosely curly hair gathered back, possibly in a bun. She holds a piece of ornate fabric or a garment adorned with intricate patterns and lace in her hands, which drapes over her arms and partly covers her lap. Curvaceous cloth draperies enhance the composition's texture. In the background, there are dense foliage and a large tree trunk creating a natural, enclosed setting. The detailed etching shows the play of light and shadow on her form and the surrounding elements.
