The image displays a pastoral scene depicting a shepherd with a broad hat, standing and leaning on a staff, alongside another individual who is seated. Nearby, a small flock of sheep is resting. In the background, the land rises into hills with a few visible buildings against the horizon. The sky is softly depicted with a few light clouds. The etching technique shows detailed textures in the foliage and clothing through delicate, fine lines. The color palette is monochromatic, primarily featuring dark brown, black, and pale tan tones.
