    The sculpture depicts a woman carrying a young child on her back. The woman is bending slightly forward, with her hair styled into two side buns and long braids draped over her shoulders. The child clings to her back, supported by what appears to be a woven basket-like carrier. The woman is dressed in a wraparound garment that covers her lower body, with intricate patterns carved into it. The sculpture is crafted from a material that gives it a rich brown color. The sculpture stands on a textured base with the name "Cumberworth" and the date "1828" inscribed on it. The figures are depicted in a lifelike manner, with attention to details such as the smooth contours of the skin, the delicate features of their faces, and the realism of their poses. The overall appearance of the sculpture is one of grace and movement, as the woman steps forward gently, giving the viewer a sense of dynamic balance and connection between the two subjects.
