Two men pitchfork hay onto a horse-drawn carriage in a field in this horizontal black and white photograph. The platform of the carriage is wider than the two white horses harnessed to it. One man tosses hay onto the top of the pile and the other man standing there. We look slightly down a hill, which is spanned a short distance away by a band of evergreen trees. Rolling hills are hazy in the distance beyond.

Six people sit or stand in the shade of a porch on a building off a dirt road in this horizontal black and white photograph. A saddled white horse stands next to a hitching post near a tree with a sprawling canopy to our right. A man smoking a pipe on the porch sits under a paper bulletin curling away from where it was posted on the wall behind him. Three children sit near some steps perhaps playing a game. An upside-down horseshoe hangs on the horizontal siding to our left. Wood boxes, a barrel, and other equipment are piled nearby.
