Buffum, David, Mrs.

American, active 1873

Biography

Mrs. Buffum is reported to be a descendant of Captain Isaac Foster [1704-1781] and his wife Eleanor Wyler Foster [1714-1798], the subjects of portraits by Joseph Badger which Mrs. Buffum once owned, now in the NGA (1957.11.1). Her son, Dr. Thomas Bellows Buffum, inherited the portraits as well as portraits of the Foster children, Isaac, Jr. [1740-1781] and William [1732-1759].
