Berggruen had an art gallery in Paris, La Galerie Rive Gauche, from the 1950s through the 1970s, during which he held over 80 exhibitions of well known artists such as Klee, Matisse and Picasso. Berggruen was also a collector himself. Papers from the Galerie Rive Gauche can be found in the Documentation of Pompidou Center in Paris.
