Rothschild, Alphons de
Austrian, 1878 - 1942
Biography

Alphons was one of five children of Albert von Rothschild (1844-1911) and his wife Bettina (née Rothschild, 1858-1892). With the Anschluss of Austria by the Nazis, Alphons fled through Switzerland, Paris and Canada and eventually settled in the US. He was married to Clarice Adelaide Sebag-Montefiore (1894-1967) with whom he had three children. Alphons de Rothschild died in 1942.
