This painting shows the upper body of a man in a seated position, turned slightly to the right, with his face looking towards us. His features include light skin, a high forehead, a thin mouth, and deep-set eyes. Though the brown-gray hair on top of his head is thin, it is long on the sides and falls around his chin. He wears a green coat with brown fur trim and a detailed white vest with ruffles near the neck. The background is a plain green color, which is darker around the edges and lighter near the center of the painting.
