This painting is an oval portrait of a man from the waist up. His head is turned to the left, and his arms are crossed. He has pale skin and rosy cheeks, dark eyebrows, a long nose, and pink lips in a neutral expression. His gray hair is styled into curls around his ears. He is wearing a black or dark blue coat with large gold buttons over a yellow shirt with a ruffled white collar. Behind him is a warm, muted brown shade, with draped red fabric on the left. Outside of the oval portrait is a brown background.
