Biography

Sir Philip succeeded his father, the Rev. Sir Philip, as Baronet in 1825. A Fellow of the Royal Society, he also served as a Trustee for the British Museum and on the Senate of London University. On 8 March, 1832, he married Anna Elizabeth Legh of Cheshire [d. 1882]. They had two sons and two daughters, of whom the eldest, (Sir) Philip le Belward succeeded his father as 11th Bt. Grey-Egerton was a Member of Parliament for many years, first for Chester, and then for the county, up to his death in 1881.
