Biography

John Sanders owned paintings by early American "naive" painters, which descended through his son, John Sanders II [1757-1834], and granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Sanders Wilson, to Mary's daughters, Anne [b. 1867] and Jane [b. 1870] Wilson of Clermont, New York. Three paintings from Sanders collection are now in the NGA (1953.5.91, 1953.5.92, 1956.13.11)
