The Countess Loredana [sometimes appears as "Lauredana"] Gatterburg-Morosini was the last living member of the branch of the Morosini family descending from Francesco the Peloponesiarch. Francesco has been called the greatest of the Venetian warriors, and is probably the most famous of the Morosinis. Countess Loredana inherited a helmet said to have belonged to Vincenzo Morosini, a celebrated Venetian patrician and warrior. The helmet (now in the NGA) was sold along with other items from the Countess' estate in May of 1894, through Jules Sambon and Charles Mannheim.
