Electa was the daughter of Thomas Earle, the sitter for a NGA painting by Ralph Earle. Thomas was a cousin of the artist and a "famous gunsmith." (Whitney 1793, 108.) Electa had a daughter, Melinda Earle Nye Chandler (Mrs. Marcus Chandler) [d. 1887], who had a daughter, Harriet M. Chandler Schoepf.
