The composition emphasizes light and shadow patterns on the ground with a high-contrast monochrome color palette. Sharp geometric shadows create a zigzag pattern across the terrain. Lighter patches of ground appear detailed, while darker areas feature silhouetted branches.

This is a photograph of a weathered utility pole covered in remnants of torn posters and papers. The central focus is on the wooden utility pole, which is heavily layered with countless staples, tacks, and remnants of aged and peeling flyers or posters. The fragments of paper are in various states of decay, with some pieces flapping slightly away from the pole. Their colors range from faded whites and yellows to hints of residual colors. The background is a blurred view of an urban setting, with the indistinct outlines of buildings and street features. The pole itself conveys a sense of history and urban decay, as it accumulates the memory of messages and notices that have long been removed.

Buildings dominate the frame, with their facades lit by direct sunlight casting sharp shadows. The view is limited to the immediate buildings and street. The architecture features traditional style elements, including chimneys and decorative window frames. An older man is captured in motion, walking across the street into the shadowy area. A storefront on the right displays rugs or tapestries hanging outside. The color palette contrasts bright and deep tones, with the blue sky and sunlight highlighting the red and gray exteriors, as well as the dark shadowed areas. A street sign labeled "Princess Street" and house numbers add specificity to the location.
