Artist, American, 1836 - 1910

The image shows a young person on a small wooden raft in the lower right corner. The viewpoint is at water level, facing the child. Foliage blocks the horizon, and water extends into the distance. The brushstrokes are delicate and watercolor-like. The color palette is muted with shades of green, brown, and light blue. A fish is on the raft, and a faint bird outline is in the trees. The sky has a light blue tint.
