The image depicts a construction site with a skyscraper under construction towering over the surrounding buildings. The foreground shows older buildings with various architectural styles, a streetcar, a group of people, and trimmed hedges. The horizon is obscured by the rising buildings on either side, and the incomplete steel framework of the skyscraper is enveloped in mist or urban haze. The scene is characterized by a monochromatic tonal palette with deep shadows and lighter areas accentuating the urban details.
