The image displays a crumbling stone fortress with tall walls and a square tower on the left. The horizon is high and hidden by the fortress. The sky is pale with light clouds. The brushstrokes are soft, using watercolor technique on the stone and sky. The color scheme is earthy with grays, light browns, beige, and greenery. Two figures are seen on a path leading into the fortress. Further along the path, the viewer is led deeper into the structure.
