Remarks
Stieglitz made this photograph at An American Place some time after the summer of 1930 when the Hotel Pierre (faintly visible in the background) was completed. It was probably intended for use as a publicity photograph for O’Keeffe’s January–February 1931 or December 1931–January 1932 exhibition at An American Place.
