inscribed in pen and brown ink on the original mount: This View pointed out to me by Sir Joseph Bank Bart 1773. He stood by while / I made the Sketch, his Servant holding an Umbrella to keep off the glare of the Sun / from my paper. I was so attentive in making this Drawing Correct, as not to perceive / the Tyde approaching, it flowing very fast and following us upwards of a Mile / before we was in safety, when looking back to Sand hillocks on which I had sat / to sketch, they was under water, the Tide generally rising eight feet / P Sandby R.A. / NB. on the left hand of the Ferry house rises smoak from the Copper Works at Heath over / Lord Vernons Woods, on the Right hand Mr Morriss's Plantations
