Wax Sculptures by Degas
August 22, 1965 – January 10, 1973
This exhibition is no longer on view at the National Gallery.
Overview: 14 original wax studies by Degas were shown, among them horses, dancers, and portraits. They were part of a group of 69 pieces acquired after the first showing at Knoedler and Co., New York, in 1955. The works were on loan from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon.
