Overview: 150 objects from the 2,400 objects in the king's private collection were chosen by the king of Sweden and his curator Bo Gyllensvärd. After their return to Sweden, these works were seen by the Swedish people for the first time.

Organization: A collaborator in the organization of the exhibition was John A. Pope, director of the Freer Gallery of Art. Mrs. John A. (Annemarie) Pope headed the International Exhibitions Foundation, which organized and circulated the exhibition.
