Overview: A survey of 130 prints, 10 illustrated books, and 10 drawings by 80 artists depicted the development of Italian etching from 1520-1700.

Organization: The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, organized the exhibition. Sue Welsh Reed, associate curator in the department of prints, drawings, and photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Richard Wallace, professor of art history, Wellesley College, were co-curators. H. Diane Russell, curator of old master prints, coordinated the exhibition at the National Gallery. Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition, and Gordon Anson designed the lighting.

Sponsor: Fabriano Paper Mill, Italy, was the corporate sponsor for the exhibition and catalogue. In addition, the National Endowment for the Arts supported research and travel in preparation for the exhibition and catalogue. Mellon Bank supported the exhibition at the National Gallery.
