Overview: Featuring 50 works from the Edgar William and Bernice Chrysler Garbisch collection of the National Gallery of Art, this installation of 18th- and 19th-century American naive paintings included the work of artists who had little or no academic training in art. Featured were works by artists such as Erastus Salisbury Field, Edward Hicks, Joshua Johnson, Ammi Phillips, and William Matthew Prior. The paintings were temporarily de-installed during heating and ventilation maintenance in the West Building.
