Overview: 50 drawings by 49 artists were selected and the catalogue was prepared by Richard P. Wunder, curator of painting and sculpture, National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institution. The drawings were all from private collections.
Sponsor: The exhibition was sponsored by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and organized and circulated by the American Federation of Arts. The Kress Foundation made it possible for the exhibition to be circulated to 9 smaller museums.
