The National Gallery of Art Library will present a selection of artists' books, all by women, that provide an opportunity to reflect on the universal themes of time and travel through the work of artists with a variety of practices. Exploration of these topics in artists' books include forms that are elaborately handcrafted or decisively minimalist, photographed or drawn, global or personal. Some 20 artists' books made over the past 45 years from the Library's collection will be on display, featuring artists such as Jill O'Bryan, Athena Tacha, Clarissa Sligh, and Julie Chen, among others.
The installation is curated by Sarah Osborne Bender, head of library technical services, National Gallery of Art, Washington.
