Artist, French, 1767 - 1855

The image shows a garden with a fountain as the central point. Lush trees cover the horizon creating a dense backdrop. A path to the left of the fountain leads deeper into the scene where a couple walks. Delicate brushstrokes give texture to the trees and foliage around the fountain. The color palette is primarily monochromatic with shades of gray. In the distance, trees of varying heights form curved shapes against the sky. Water arcs gracefully from the sculptural fountain. Figures dressed in period attire add historical charm to the scene.
