Painter, French, 1767 - 1842

The image displays a landscape featuring a forest with tall trees and a stream running through it. At the center of the image is a group of grazing cows and a figure resting against a tree who appears to be playing a flute. In a clearing in the distance is a tall statue surrounded by more figures who appear to be dancing. The trees almost obscure the sky, although fluffy white clouds peek through a small opening. THe area in the bottom left hand corner is dark, with the clearing in the background illuminated.
