Georg Friedrich Schmidt

Artist, German, 1712 - 1775

The image shows a portrait of a person depicted from the waist up. The person is sitting with their left arm resting on a surface, holding a fountain pen in their right hand, poised above a piece of paper. They have a youthful face with a subtle, neutral expression, and their hair is mostly covered by a large, voluminous beret. The individual's attire consists of a rustic, long-sleeved jacket over a high-collared shirt. The jacket is slightly open, revealing a dark garment underneath. They are wearing light-colored gloves, and the room is simply furnished with what appears to be a plain backdrop. The upper left shows the signature "G. F. Schmidt" and a date from 1752.
