Printed in brown on tan paper are three equal columns of mostly vertical, overlapping marks set within wide margins in this collagraph. Some marks are like tally lines, and others are like tiny boxes. The impression is of early writing or a densely, geometrically patterned textile. Two dark areas appear to be scratched out. One is just below center of the middle column, and the other is about a third of the way down the rightmost column.
