The image shows a scene with a winding road and a train crossing in the background. A horse-drawn cart is traveling on the road, with two figures waving towards the train. Buildings are on either side of the road, with a lone tree to the right. The color palette is monochrome, using black, white, and grey shades. Textured brushstrokes create depth, especially in the smoke, shadows, and tree branches. The composition leads the viewer's gaze from the foreground to the distant train.
