The image depicts a cityscape with Renaissance-style architecture viewed from a body of water. The horizon is located one-third from the bottom, where the buildings meet their reflections in the water. The buildings are tall and narrow, featuring arches, domes, and a prominent bell tower. The etching style creates detailed textures with fine, intricate lines. The color palette is monochromatic, using varying shades of sepia. A gondola with a poleman is in the foreground, and its reflection is seen in the water.
