Artist, American, 1880 - 1958

The image shows a garden with houses among trees, viewed from a slightly elevated angle. The horizon is not sharply defined, suggesting the top edge of the trees and rooftops as the boundary between sky and earth. The etching technique creates texture through crosshatching strokes for the trees and buildings. The color palette is monochromatic in shades of sepia. There are garden plots with low fences, a pathway leading into the scene, rustic wooden houses, foliage, and a sky lightly sketched with subtle clouds.
