The image depicts a man in formal attire from the early 17th century standing upright. He has a receding hairline, short hair, a neatly trimmed beard, and a mustache. The man wears an outfit with a high ruffled collar, a patterned doublet, and large lace cuffs. He holds a roll of parchment in his right hand, resting against his chest. On a desk in front of him, there is an inkwell, quill, and an open book. In the background, there is a detailed engraving with the man's name and the date 1622 inscribed around his circularly framed portrait. The engraving includes heraldic symbols, such as a dragon on a helmet on the left, three lion heads and two animal heads on the right, and a shield with celestial symbols below the oval.
