The image shows a portrait from the waist up of a man in a seated position, facing forward, with his body slightly turned to the left. The man has a long, flowing beard and his facial features include a high forehead, prominent eyebrows, deep-set eyes, and a solemn expression. His hair is short and appears to be combed back from his forehead. He is dressed in a detailed garment which appears to be a robe or cloak with an intricate pattern or embroidery on the collar. The background is a simple line shading. In front of him is a plate with text written in an old style font, labeled "IOANNES STURMIVS," followed by additional inscriptions.
