The image shows a woman holding a small child. The woman is seated and is holding the child with both hands, close to her chest. Her face is in profile, with a gentle gaze directed at the child. She has rounded facial features, and her head is adorned with an elaborate headpiece that includes multiple decorative elements. Her hair is mostly covered by this headpiece. The woman wears a gown with puffed sleeves, and a necklace can be seen around her neck. The child is shown from the waist up, and is turned slightly towards the woman, resting its head gently near her face. Both figures are surrounded by draped fabric that appears as a backdrop.
