The image shows a man sitting under a tree on the right, wearing a cloak and a hat that partly covers his face. He leans against the tree. On the left, there is a mule facing away with its back visible. In the background, there are rolling hills and a small house or hut on one hill, partly hidden by trees. The horizon is formed by a line of hills. The artwork is created using fine line work and crosshatching, making it look textured in black and white. The sky is depicted with subtle horizontal lines indicating a clear or lightly clouded sky.
