The image shows a full body portrait of an elderly man standing slightly hunched forward. His facial features are aged, with a prominent nose, deep-set eyes, and he wears round spectacles. The man has thin, balding hair and is draped in a large garment resembling a cloak or mantle. One arm covers his mouth, while the other holds an open book angled towards him. He is barefoot. Above his head, there is a circular halo. The background shows a busy street scene with a crowd of people around classical buildings.
