This is a drawing of a town square with soldiers in military formation and a gallows in the foreground. There are buildings with steeply sloped roofs including a church with a steeple in the background. People are gathered around, some watching from windows and others on the ground. The setting appears to be from early modern Europe, possibly the 17th century. The image is drawn with fine lines and detailed cross-hatching.
