The image shows a landscape view from an elevated position looking across a countryside scene. The horizon, about one-third from the top of the image, is defined by a line of trees and a distant settlement that includes a church-like structure with a spire. Fine, diagonal lines across the sky suggest rain, with a contrast between the cloudy sky and the rain-covered area. The technique uses delicate hatching and cross-hatching brushstrokes throughout, creating texture and depth. The color palette is monochromatic with shades of sepia or dark brown ink on a lighter background. Closest to us, a rugged, rocky terrain with a path is bordered by trees on the right. In the distance, there are rolling terrain and wooded areas.
