This etching shows a street that runs through an arched opening in a grand, towering building. The structure takes up almost the whole image and is connected to a tower on its left side. The dark roof of the building is adorned with a clock. A building on the right side with several balconies marks the edge of the street. Shadows from this building are cast on the central structure, framing the open arch in darkness. Sitting beneath this building on the right, a person sits under an awning and appears to be engaging in an activity with a white cloth draped over their knees. Beyond this arch in the distance, the street continues towards more buildings.
