Artwork history & notes

Provenance

(Pace Gallery, New York);[1] Mrs. Enid Annenberg Haupt, New York; gift 1977 to NGA.
[1] According to a memorandum of telephone call between J. Carter Brown and Mrs. Haupt (26 September 1977, copy in NGA curatorial files). However, an annotated copy of the same memorandum, also in NGA curatorial files, seems to indicate that only the Trova (NGA 1977.47.12) was purchased from Pace Gallery.
