The man’s limbs are unnaturally thin and elongated with oversized hands and feet. The surface of the sculpture and the narrow, rectangular base is bumpy and rough. A screen made up of five tall, rectangular panels, set side by side and each surrounded by a gold frame, is painted as a single scene showing a tree-lined sidewalk curving around a park in a city. The scene is loosely painted with short, rounded brushstrokes. The top two-thirds to three-quarters of most of the panels are filled with the lime and olive-green leaves of the trees that line the sidewalk and park. In the leftmost panel, the sidewalk and road lead back to a row of caramel-brown building façades. The sidewalk is pale taupe, and the street is painted with dashes of the same taupe against terracotta brown, suggesting cobblestones. Spindly trees are spaced in a row along the sidewalk in round holes covered with smoke-gray metal grates. A black fence, painted with thin, sometimes broken black lines encloses the park beyond, which has a path around plantings and the vivid green lawn. Touches of pink on a sage-green tree to our left in the park suggest flowers. A gray statue on a high plinth is partially lost in the break between the two rightmost panels. Men, women, and children, painted with a few strokes of black, gray, or marine or periwinkle blue, walk along the sidewalk and the garden path, or sit at the base of the fence or on benches spaced along the sidewalk. The women seem to wear long dresses and the men dark clothing and hats. Two carriages are pulled up on the street near a lamp post alongside the sidewalk near the lower left. In the leftmost panel, horse-drawn carriages move along the road leading back to the buildings, and more people seem to be gathered on the sidewalk near the left edge of the panel in the distance. The artist signed the work with brown paint in the lower right corner: “E. Vuillard.” The panels of the screen have been set up so the panels rest on a platform or on the floor in a shallow zig-zag pattern, in a room with an off white wall and bisque-brown molding along the floor.

A tangerine-colored rectangle and a butter yellow rectangle float against a golden yellow field in this abstract, vertical painting. At the top, the tangerine rectangle extends nearly the width of the painting and goes from near the top edge to just short of halfway down the painting. Below it, a larger rectangle in glowing yellow tones anchors the bottom three-fifths of the painting. The yellow of the bottom rectangle varies from sunshine yellow to tan. The warm, ochre-colored background is painted in a flat, uniform way, and it creates a border around and between the rectangles. The brushstrokes within the rectangles have soft, indistinct edges, with a blurred effect. The tangerine-colored rectangle is formed with upward vertical strokes made with a wide brush that are denser at the bottom and end in a wispy edge at the top. The bottom yellow rectangle has varied brushwork that forms soft, and indistinct cloud-like shapes within the geometric form. At the bottom right edge of the upper, tangerine rectangle, a hint of a vertical, blue-green stroke of paint emerges from beneath the ochre background. Around the edges of the lower, yellow rectangle are subtle hints of tangerine and sometimes blue-green bleeding from around all four edges.

An abstracted, nude person stands on a platform perched on two wheels, all cast in bronze, which balances on wooden blocks in this freestanding sculpture. The elongated, unnaturally thin woman stands with her arms slightly bent and held out to her sides. She has low-set breasts, and her blocky, oversized feet stand on a metal platform supported on two vertical strips of bronze that perch on the axle. The wheels are oversized with four spokes each arranged to look like Xs. The surface of the woman and wheels are rough and knubby, and all of the metal is colored gold. The wood blocks stand upright with channels cut into their upper surfaces to hold the wheels. The sculpture is angled to our left in this photograph, and it is shown against a pale gray background.

Four thin people with exaggerated, elongated legs, torsos, and arms walk across a flat, smooth, dark slab while one stands with feet together and arms by their side in this free-standing bronze sculpture. They are sparsely spaced across the base, and they all head for roughly the center of the slab. The person standing with feet together is at the center of this photograph, which shows the sculpture from one long end. The people’s bodies are textured and knobby, as if built up from small pieces of clay. The artist’s name is incised into the front face of the base to our right, and reads: “4/6 A. Giacometti.”
