Associated Names
Mark Rothko

Painter, American, born Russia (now Latvia), 1903 - 1970

The image features bold, sweeping shapes and lines that intermingle and overlay each other. A red form sweeps horizontally across the upper portion, while diffuse areas of black, white, and hints of blue and green create layered patterns. These forms and colors suggest natural formations like cliffs or shorelines viewed from a distance, within an abstract composition.
